Well, that sure is a different way to lose a baseball game.  The Atlanta Braves battled with the Chicago Cubs for 11 innings and ended up coming up short in the game as they lost 3-2.  Jeff Ridgway threw one pitch in the 11th inning with the bases loaded and hit Reed Johnson to score the winning run for the Cubs.

Manny Acosta actually took the loss for the Braves and is now 3-5.  It was actually a pretty good day for the Braves pitching staff before all that happened.  Well except for the blown save in the ninth inning when Jim Edmonds took Blain Boyer deep to tie the game.  Tim Hudson got the start on the mound and threw 6 2/3 innings and gave up seven hits and only one run.

The Braves offense once again struggled to put up runs in the game even though they had 11 hits.  Jeff Francoeur had a two run home run in the second inning and that was all the Braves could get off the Cubs as they left 25 runners on base.

The Atlanta Braves hit three home runs as they beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-6.  The Braves avoided he the three game sweep by getting this win over the Phillies.  Good win for the Braves as they didn’t want to drop all three games.

The Braves hit three home runs as Chipper Jones, Kelly Johnson, and Yunel Escobar all went deep.  Mark Kotsay, Brian McCann, Jones and Johnson all finished the game with two rbi.  Escobar, Jeff Francoeur, Gregor Blanco, and Tom Glavine all had one rbi in the game as the Braves really spread about the offense.

Glavine was able to pick up the win in the game as he pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up four hits and four runs.  Two of those runs came on a two run home run by Chase Utley in the sixth inning.

Royce King was the only Braves reliever to give up a run as he let a run in in the eighth inning.  Blaine Boyer pitched the ninth inning to record the save for the Braves even though he gave up one run and had to get out of a big jam to hold the Phillies off.

The Atlanta Braves couldn’t quite get it done and come up with the big hits that they needed to against the Washington Nationals as they lost 5-4 on Tuesday night.  The Braves had two runners on base when Jeff Francoeur flied out to end the game.

The Braves did score one run in the ninth inning when Brian McCann had a rbi double to deep center field.  Before that run, the Braves first three runs came in the first inning when Chipper Jones had a rbi single and Francoeur had a two run single.  It was just like the Braves went to sleep in the middle innings of the game.

Jo-Jo Reyes pitched 6 2/3 innings to take the loss for the Braves.  Reyes gave up eleven hits and five runs while striking out five batters.  Jorge Campillo and Manny Acosta pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to finish out the game.

The Braves are now 19-19 on the season.  Braves Blog

The Atlanta Braves picked up a big win Thursday night as they beat the Florida Marlins 7-4.  The Braves record is now 11-11 on the season. Hopefully they can get over the .500 hump and pick up another win tomorrow against the Marlins.

Jeff Francoeur led the Braves as he had three RBI.  Matt Diaz had two RBI in the game as well.  Chipper Jones hit a solo home run in the second inning.  Mark Teixeira also had a RBI in the game for the Braves.

Chuck James tossed five innings to pick up the win.  James allowed four runs on five hits.  Jorge Campillo and Manny Acosta both tossed two inning to finish off the Marlins.

It was a good win for the Braves, and I look for them to have another good game tomorrow.
