The Reds' longest road trip of the season ended with yet another loss. Jair Jurrjens outpitched Johnny Cueto, Martin Prado hit a two-run homer and the Atlanta Braves beat Cincinnati 2-1 on Sunday night, putting an end to the Reds' damaging road trip. The Reds lost two of three to the Braves, going 2-8 away from home.

Mike Leake returned from the minors with a simple goal. "I was just trying to go out and get a quality outing," he said, "because all the arms had been used up lately." Leake pitched six strong innings to give Cincinnati's depleted rotation a boost and the Reds beat the Atlanta Braves 5-1 on Friday night for only their second win in 10 games.

This was not the way Fredi Gonzalez and Chipper Jones wanted to see the Braves open a homestand. Atlanta committed three errors, left 11 runners on base and hit into two double plays in Friday night's 5-1 loss to Mike Leake and the Cincinnati Reds. The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a trade that sends minor-league pitcher Ryan Buchter to the Atlanta Braves for veteran reliever Rodrigo Lopez. The Cubs have needed a quality long-reliever and spot starter when they released Carlos Silva before the season began.

The Atlanta Braves have traded veteran right-hander Rodrigo Lopez to the Chicago Cubs in a deal for minor league left-hander Ryan Buchter. Buchter, 24, will be assigned to the Braves' high Class A team in Lynchburg, Va. He was a combined 4-0 with one save and a 3.38 ERA for the Cubs' Class A Daytona and AA Tennessee teams this season.
